Pulmonary Function Technology- Advanced Concepts

The Pulmonary Function Technology: Advanced Concepts course was designed to improve the respiratory therapist's knowledge lung volumes testing, diffusing capacity testing, and quality assurance in the pulmonary function laboratory. This course offers a unique opportunity to learn from noted experts in the field.

This course contains one (1) welcome video plus three (3) chapters, each with a video-based lecture and supplemental readings to enhance your knowledge of the subject matter. After you have watched all 4 videos, you will need to successfully complete the post-course test to earn your CRCE. A score of 70% is required to successfully complete the course.

It is recommended, though not required, that you complete the AARC Pulmonary Function Technology: Spirometry course prior to completing this course. The AARC Pulmonary Function Technology: Advanced Concepts course does not contain a module focused on spirometry.

**Please note that this program requires the participant to view the entire intro video prior to taking the final quiz and obtaining a course certificate.**

Approved for 2.50 CRCE Hours.

SEMINAR OBJECTIVES

Discuss the indications for lung volumes tests; list the equipment necessary for lung volumes tests; identify the process of performing lung volumes tests; and discuss the implications of the results of lung volumes tests
Discuss the indications for diffusing capacity tests; list the equipment necessary for diffusing capacity tests; identify the process of performing diffusing capacity tests; discuss the implications of the results of diffusing capacity tests; discuss the difference in terminology; and discuss units of measure
Define quality assurance in the context of the PFT lab; identify quality system essentials; examine PFT lab path of workflow; review pre-test quality measures; review intra-test quality measures; review post-test quality measures; and discuss barriers to achieving quality
