"Role of the Respiratory Therapist in Tracheostomy Care" Lecturer: Dean Hess PhD, RRT, FAARC. Respiratory therapists should have expertise in the use of tracheostomy tubes and related appliances. Most important is correct matching of the device to the needs of the patients. Also important is recognition when the patient can be decannulated and facilitating speech in the patient with tracheostomy.
