What's in a Name? Palliative Care, Stigma, and Quality of Life
The phrase “palliative care” can be associated with negative intent and outcomes. Indeed, some patients and families may even reject the offer of palliative care based on the stigma associated with the term. In this session, the presenter will discuss the construct of palliative care and its outcomes, explore the literature related to the impact of the terms used to describe palliative care on patient outcomes, and the role of the respiratory therapist in maximizing quality of life.
Successful completion of this course requires a score of 70% on the post-test.
