Transitioning the Neurorespiratory Patient to Home [2026]
Transitioning the neurorespiratory patient from hospital to home involves collaboration between both hospital and home healthcare professionals. This presentation will identify various neurorespiratory diseases and disease states as well as the education and learning needs of this patient population and their support network. In addition the presenter will discuss the respiratory therapist’s role in caring for this patient population in the home and the hospital, including current Medicare guidelines necessary for transitioning the patient to home.

SEMINAR OBJECTIVES
Define various neurorespiratory diseases/disease states the RCP may encounter and how these diseases impact the respiratory system
Describe the RCP's role with these patient populations both in the hospital and at home
Discuss education/learning needs of the patient and family the RCP will need to be aware of when transitioning this patient population to home
Review current Medicare/insurance guidelines that the RCP should be aware of when transitioning the neurorespiratory patient to home
