Transitioning from the Critical Care Ventilator to the Home Ventilator in the NICU/PICU



This presentation will help guide the clinician in having better success transitioning chronic babies who have tracheostomies and require home ventilation from an ICU ventilator to a home ventilator. The tips and tricks provided in the presentation have allowed this Children’s Hospital to consistently transition babies successfully, and will offer the audience troubleshooting techniques to help overcome challenges and barriers when it comes to transitioning. The presenter will also discuss the importance of determining optimal peep on these patients and how it can enhance triggering and ventilator synchrony.

Successful completion of this course requires a score of 70% on the post-test.
